On Oct. 20, 2007 I made hotel reservations for three rooms for three nights at the rate of 55.95+taxes per night. Today, 1/8/08 I called and made a fourth room reservation for three nights. I was told this room would be at 195.00 per night and that I couldn't have the lower rate that I received in Oct. I shared with the reservationist that I understood. Tonight I get home from work and my husband tells me he just got off the phone with the owner of the hotel. The owner of the hotel called our house and told us he was going to change the rate of the rooms that were priced at 55.95 a night each to 195.00 a night. My husband was shocked. The owner told him "I'm the owner I can do what I want". My husband tried talking to him and saying we made the first room reservations in Oct. and we understand and have no problem with the rate we were given for the 4th room but the owner didn't care. I went online to check the confirmation information and sure enough the owner chaged the price on all the reservations. I have print outs of the reservation details from Oct. 20th and today showing the lower prices. I called the headquarters of this major hotel change and they've given me a case number. This means that the owner of the hotel has 7 days to contact me to resolve the issue. What are my rights as a consumer??? I'm so floored I've been online for the last 4hrs. trying to find out what my rights are.
This wouldn't be an issue if we could find another hotel but all the hotels are filled in this area or the prices are inflated because of a speical event that we won't be able to attend with the room rates that high. Any information or direction for help would be appriciate. Our reservations are for March 13-16, 08 so time is running out.
